Write for us
Curious County Journal welcomes clear, carefully scoped pitches about county geography and the details that help readers understand a place. Send proposals through the Contact page.
What to pitch
Propose an article about a landform, settlement pattern, boundary, place name or connection between places. A good pitch has one central question, a defined geographic scope and a reader takeaway that does not depend on unverified local claims.
What makes a strong proposal
Explain the angle, why it is worth exploring and what sources or material would support it. Comparisons should name both sides and the point of comparison; avoid broad claims that one village, name or landscape represents a whole county.
How to send it
Use the Contact page to share a short proposal and relevant writing samples if you have them. Do not send a complete article unless requested. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may edit accepted work for clarity and fit.
A map is only one way to read a place
County lines can look decisive on paper. The land, names and routes within them tell a less tidy story.
